Abstract

The background of this research includes students 'mathematical problem solving abilities which are still low, so that learning alternatives are needed that can improve students' mathematical problem solving abilities. The objectives of this study were: 1) To determine how much influence the Group Investigation Type Cooperative Learning Model has on the mathematical problem solving abilities of fourth grade students of SDN Cibogo. 2) To find out differences in students' mathematical problem-solving abilities before and after learning using the Group Investigation type cooperative learning model. The research method used in this study is a Quasi Experiment with a non-equivalent pretest-posttest control group design design. The research subjects were two classes, namely class IV A and IV B at SDN Cibogo, Cibogo District, Subang Regency. The number of samples taken was 40 students consisting of 20 students of class IV A as the experimental class and 20 students of class IV B as the control class. The instrument used was a written test of mathematical problem solving abilities. This research was carried out by conducting a pretest to students first. Then do the treatment (treatment) to students. The final stage, the researcher gave post-test to students in the form of test questions for mathematical problem solving abilities. The results of the hypothesis test of the Group Investigation type cooperative learning model on students' mathematical problem solving abilities using the independent sample test technique obtained a significance level of 0.000 ≤ 0.05 so that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. So that the Group Investigation type Cooperative Learning Model has a significant effect on the mathematical problem solving abilities of grade IV A students at SDN Cibogo in the 2020/2021 school year. In the hypothesis test there is also a difference in the average value in the experimental class from the average pretest score which only got 33.75 to 78.75 at the time of the post-test and there are students who are in the high category. The n-gain value from the results of this study is 0.69 which falls into the medium category and is quite effective. So the cooperative learning type Group Investigation affects students' mathematical problem solving.
