Abstract

Competition in the era of the development of science and technology to survive depends on one's creativity and ability to innovate. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of the butterfly house as a medium for learning biology in increasing creativity and student learning outcomes in Animal Physiology courses in the Study Program. Biology Education. The research subjects of the fifth-semester students involved 2 classes consisting of 70 students. Class A uses an open inquiry worksheet and Class B uses guided inquiry. This study used a quasi-experimental method with a Nonequivalent control group design. The instruments used were creativity assessment, concept mastery test, portfolio, and students' scientific attitudes. The results showed that student creativity at high criteria was identified from the ability to plan, formulate and produce an inquiry-based investigation that succeeded in producing innovative and creative products in the form of procedures and videos of butterfly breeding. Students' conceptual mastery in both the open inquiry and guided inquiry classes at moderate N-gain levels (0.75 and 0.71) and not significantly different at the significance level α = 0.05, this indicates that both guided inquiry and open inquiry classes were able to improve learning outcomes. The overall attitude assessment shows an independent, responsible scientific attitude and create.
