Abstract

The rapid change in technology is a significant challenge for the vocational high school due to the difficulty of continuously updating their curriculum to keep up with the changes that are happening in the automotive industry. The vocational high schools do not have enough resources to purchase the newest technologies for their learning process. The objective of this study is to further analyze the impact of the vocational high school’s inability to match their curriculum to the changes that are happening in the industry to the rate of unemployment and economic growth in Indonesia. The methods used in this study are qualitative-descriptive with literature studies and also secondary data analysis. The indicator of the economic growth used in this study is GDP (Gross Domestic Product). As a result of this study, we found that the vocational high school’s inability to update their curriculum to match the changes that are happening in the industry causes a significant number of unemployment and has a negative effect to the GDP (Gross Domestic Product) of Indonesia, but also has a positive impact to the growing numbers of new small businesses as a result of difficulty of getting a job.
