Abstract

The development approach has not been fair considering the benefits of development for women and men, which has contributed to the emergence of gender inequality and inequality. Gender disparity is based on 2017 Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) data, West Java women's development index (HDI) of 66 , 78 compared to male HDIs which have reached 74.88 and the gender development index (GPA) reaches 88.18. As a result of inequality that occurs, can harm everyone and ultimately harm the economy of a country. This study aims to analyze gender inequality in West Java by using the Gender Inequality Index which is a proxy of the Human Development Index (HDI) in the Gender Development Index (IPG), Gender Empowerment Index (IDG), Average School Length for Men and Women and Life expectancy of men and women. The results of the analysis by panel data regression using E- views indicate that there is gender inequality, the gender empowerment index on average school years and life expectancy has a positive and significant impact on economic growth in West Java.
